Any day now!
Alice, our tiny, black cocker spaniel is in her last days of pregnancy - Monty (the dad), is a chocolate cocker, and couldn't care less that poor Alice is about to have several tiny bundles to look after for the next few weeks. I hope she has them soon, as her little tummy is trailing on the floor!

The Last Few Days
Having just had a very busy few days at the lodge, we now have one or two days free to 'catch-up', before our last Woodcock Day in Silver Hill.  Time is marching forward and the snowdrops have finally decided to risk nodding their heads in the unpredictable weather. We are still seeing our (now 3) red squirrels on the feeders at the bottom of the garden, munching their way through hazel nuts, sunflower seeds, peanuts and the odd cobb nut - they are chubby and very active - lets hope they bring some kits to the feeder this year.

A Wild New Year!
Had a walk around the grounds this morning - checking for any storm damage! The winds have blasted us for nearly a month now, but we have been very fortunate with only a few slates off the barn roof. Worryingly, there are no signs of either snowdrops or daffodils - makes me wonder if we still have some bad winter weather to come, as last year the snowdrops were in full bloom in the first week of January.  Watch this space!
